Calling all culture seekers looking for a truly unique experience in Scotland’s capital; Welcome to Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood, Lateral City Apartment’s newest five-star luxury serviced apartment property opening its doors in February 2020.
Located in the Royal Heart of Edinburgh, Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood will soon open its doors to the public, offering nine beautifully restored apartments, each designed with a nod to a colourful assortment of nine former inhabitants of Abbey Strand. With a choice of Studios, One Bedroom Apartments and a spacious Two Bedroom Apartment, you are guaranteed to find accommodation to fit all your travelling needs. Enrich your imagination amongst medieval fireplaces, original stone wall detailing, and spiral staircases, while contemporary design and modern essentials take care of the rest.
Our Studio Apartments come with King-size or Twin beds, offering ensuite bathrooms, housing walk-in rainfall shower and complimentary, super-luxe Malin + Geotz toiletries on tap, making them feel more like home than home. Equipped with all the luxury accoutrements you’d expect, from Nespresso coffee machine, Bose speakers and kitchen must-haves, the open-plan design is arranged to effortlessly flow through kitchen, living, dining and sleeping spaces. Authenticity is central to the Lateral City ethos, and each Studio pays homage to the building’s sensational past, each taking on the personality of its former historic resident. From Domenico Corri (Italian composer and opera singer extraordinaire) to Thomas De Quincey (infamous opium addict and literary genius), look through the lens of history as each former resident shares their story.
Just like the nine honoured former residents Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood, each of our One Bedroom Apartments are entirely unique, each offering their own independent quirks and personality traits. Some have kitchens with freestanding breakfast bar, others are all about the bathroom, with luxurious, freestanding tub and oversized shower. Windows to both the front and the back of the building offer views towards the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Arthur’s Seat and Parliament, as well as the revitalised Physic Garden with roots dating back to the 15th Century. Each apartment also features a luxury double sofa bed. We know this can sound like an oxymoron, but take our word for it, these gorgeous sofa beds offer all the comforts needed for an excellent night’s sleep.
Named after the Comte D’Artois (otherwise known as the infamous Charles X of France), our 2 Bedroom Apartment is a one of a kind – literally. There’s only one of them. Spacious and brimming with exposed historic details dating back to the 18th Century, our 2 Bedroom Apartment is already proving popular with travellers from far and wide. This apartment offers two ensuite bedrooms, kitchen, generous dining area and open-plan living room. Exquisite interiors aside, the view of Arthur’s Seat and The Queens Gallery cannot be rivalled – a view much unchanged since the Comte D’Artois sought sanctuary here in 1789.
