Live Like a Local in Bruntsfield

|

We might be a bit biased, but we think Bruntsfield is great. If you want to visit the big city but also need an escape from the hustle and bustle, if you want to be close to all the best Edinburgh attractions but don’t want to fight the hordes of tourists to get to bed, and if you want to experience what living in the city is really like without compromising on space or being kept up all night from noise, Bruntsfield is the perfect area for you. This leafy neighbourhood has so much to offer - whether you are looking for a great cup of coffee to start your day, or a unique gift to take home for a loved one. But don’t just take our word for it - we chat to three local business owners about why they love the area so much and how to truly live like a local when you stay.

What is your favourite part of Edinburgh, and why?

I am always entranced by the walk along the Water of Leith. It's such a peaceful way to experience the city, and has some wonderful stops along the way. Dean Village and the Museum of Modern Art are not to be missed!

What's your number one top tip for a visitor to experience Edinburgh like a local?

Get lost! Throw away the guidebooks and explore this magical city on foot. You never know where a wynd will lead you, or what you'll find down a cobblestone street.

What is your favourite part of Edinburgh, and why?

The green and open space of the Meadows. I love seeing Edinburgh Castle when walking across the Meadows.  There’s always something going on there too - friends hanging out, kids playing frisbee, the health fanatics, BBQ’s, jugglers, dog walkers, the lone guitarist playing a few tunes….  We are so lucky to live in such an amazing & diverse city!

What's your number one top tip for a visitor to experience Edinburgh like a local?

I love going to The Pitt in Leith on Saturdays. I like to eat lots of great street food and check out the new stalls and producers on offer. The best thing is it's open until 10pm, which means we can nip down for some tasty food & a wine after work!

Describe Bruntsfield in three words...

A real village feel but with an air of city buzz
