Serviced Apartments versus Hotels

What is the difference between Serviced Apartments and Hotels?

Hotels are traditionally made up of individual bedrooms with adjoining en-suite bathrooms. Sometimes these rooms have additional facilities such as a mini bar, desks and occasional chairs. Also within the hotel building, there will be at least one restaurant or designated eating area that serves breakfast and sometimes dinner too. Additional services often offered by hotels include room service, business facilities, a concierge, a gym and a swimming pool.

Serviced Apartments usually come in the form of a building consisting of many individual and private apartment spaces, similar to a residential apartment building. These spaces have all the facilities of a traditional residential apartment, including a fully equipped kitchen, lounge room and separate bedrooms (often more than one). Some Serviced Apartments also provide studio apartment options, which include all these allocated spaces within the one room. These Serviced Apartments, like a hotel, offer a concierge and reception plus a daily house-keeping service.  A Serviced Apartment building can also offer additional facilities, for example, an adjoining gym.

Not only do Serviced Apartments offer you most of the advantages of a hotel, but they actually offer much more. Staying in a serviced apartment is much better value for money than a hotel, especially the longer you stay! Not only do serviced apartments offer much more space (often with separate rooms for each functional space) than hotels, they also offer more flexibility. In apartments, you are not restricted to fixed meal times. With your own fully equipped kitchen, you can opt to eat whenever you wish. With separate rooms within an apartment, you can have privacy from other guests in the apartment, and some quiet time if required.

Serviced apartments often have all the mod cons you are used to at home, such as TVs, Sound systems, fridges, microwaves and comfortable furnishings. Apartments can offer the convenience of a hotel (daily room-keeping, a concierge service etc.), but with the characters and comforts of home.

Serviced Apartments are a great choice for those with kids and pets, as well as groups. Apartments offer more space for larger groups, allowing everyone to live comfortably, whilst offering the luxury of staying away. Often Serviced Apartments allow (well-behaved) pets to stay too, making them an ideal option for the whole family.
