Treat That Special Person This Mother’s Day

When Mother’s Day comes around it’s nice to show that special person that you’re thinking about them. It’s easy to say that you don’t need a special holiday to remind someone of how much they mean to you but, sometimes, it gives you a little push to really go all out. So, if you’re struggling with ideas for how to treat that special person on Mother’s Day, just keep reading.

It may be cliché but it is so for a reason: giving the gift of relaxation, especially to someone who rarely takes a moment for themselves, is always appreciated. There are a million different ways to interpret this, from creating an at-home spa day to cleaning the house and cooking them dinner. My favourite though is to book a lovely massage or beauty treatment to show that it’s really a special occasion. My top pick would be Chamomile Sanctuary, an award-winning beauty salon in Edinburgh’s West End who offer a range of gorgeous treatments. This one will really get you in the good books.

Afternoon tea is a classic, or even a light lunch somewhere special. A simple yet sweet way to show you appreciate them. You could go somewhere you know they love, somewhere they’ve been dying to try, or even somewhere that’s meaningful to you that you’d like for them to experience. The main thing is to spend time with them in a place where they won’t be distracted by work, kids, or other pressures. If you need some ideas: try the Signet Library for a real treat or Lady Libertine for a more relaxed vibe and a glass of fizz.

If you really want to wow them, why not gift an overnight stay? Being able to lounge around in a gorgeous apartment or hotel room, feeling like royalty, and not worrying about having to clean up after yourself can be one of the most therapeutic experiences. Top it off with a bottle of prosecco and some chocolates and you’ve got yourself a winner.

Always remember that extravagant purchases aren’t necessary to show someone you care for them. A little bouquet of flowers, a phone call, or a handwritten card may be just the perfect choice. These are just a couple of suggestions to get your gift-giving juices flowing this Mother’s Day.
