Winter Shopping in Edinburgh

|

Christmas shopping in the capital is a sure-fire way of staving off the cold during the festive season. Not only are you guaranteed to find some one-of-a-kind wonders for under your tree, but the city is dressed to impress, and there is plenty of distractions to break up your browsing.

Edinburgh's Farmer Market

Every Saturday, Castle Terrace plays host to a range of local, artisanal stalls offering produce from all around Scotland. Clasp your hands around a cup of homebrewed soup to fight off the chill, while you peruse the delectable delights on offer. You'll find some unique additions to any festive feast or charming Scottish gifts for your loved ones.

George Street

Looking for something luxurious to leave under the tree this year? Or maybe you fancy a spot of window shopping to drop a few subtle hints to your nearest and dearest? George Street is lined with luxury retailers from Joules to Jigsaw and glittering eye-catching jewellers such as Rox and Hamilton and Inches. From November onwards, we see George Street draped in lights and sparkle. The Dome, Edinburgh's answer to the Rockefeller Tree, boasts the biggest and brightest decorations and is well worth a visit.

Multrees Walk

Just round the corner from The Edinburgh Grand, you can find any shopper's Mecca. Multrees Walk is a pedestrianised thoroughfare boasting high-end designer stores such as Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss and Reiss. Luxury department store, Harvey Nichols, can be found on the corner, catering for all your Christmas needs.

Thistle Street

Escape the madness of George Street and visit some of Edinburgh's most elegant, independent boutiques on the quaint and cobbled Thistle Street. Just a short walk down the hill from George Street, you stumble across a few hidden gems. Why not stop by Bon Vivant for a cocktail by candlelight as the darkness descends?
